Antioxidants and Their Amazing Anti-Aging Benefits

World-renowned nutritional researchers and antiaging experts have unlocked the nutritional secret to a longer, healthier life... it's antioxidants!
The far-reaching benefits of antioxidants can help you feel younger, improve your health and live longer.
What do antiaging experts say?
If you investigate the science on antiaging, you'll discover for yourself what scientists and researchers from all over the world already know: Antioxidants hold the secret to staying young and preventing degenerative diseases.
"There is overwhelming scientific evidence demonstrating that people who eat a diet rich in antioxidants… will live longer, healthier lives."
— Dr. Lester Packer, PhD, World-renowned cell biologist
How do antioxidants work?
Antioxidants protect your cells from oxidative stress caused by an excess of free radicals. Free radicals are highly unstable and reactive particles produced as a normal byproduct of your metabolism and are necessary for the body to repair itself. However, an excessive amount of free radicals is considered one of the primary causes of aging and degenerative diseases.

You've seen this process at work many times before, as in rotting fruit or rusted metal. Your body ages in much the same way, except it happens from the inside out.
Free Radicals, Disease and Aging.
Free radicals may cause some diseases all on their own, but more often, they weaken your immune system and make your body vulnerable to diseases caused by other factors. Here is what some leading antiaging scientists have to say about free radicals:
"Free radicals appear to play a central role in virtually every disease you can name, either directly or secondarily... which disease develops depends on the site of the free radical attack."
— Russell A. Blaylock MD, board-certified neurosurgeon
"Scientists now believe that free radicals are causal factors in nearly every known disease, from heart disease to arthritis to cancer to cataracts. In fact, free radicals are a major culprit in the aging process itself."
— Dr. Lester Packer PhD, world-renowned cell biologist
"There are a lot of issues that my colleagues in antiaging medicine disagree on, but there's one that has near unanimous agreement: Damage from free radicals is at the heart of aging."
— Robert C. Atkins MD, cardiologist, creator of the Atkins Diet
Antioxidants are the key to any healthy diet.

There are many types of "healthy" diets around, but no one specific one is right for everybody. You'll feel best when you find a diet that matches your own unique metabolism. However, there is one thing to keep in mind...
What all healthy diets have in common is an abundance and variety of unprocessed, antioxidant-rich foods.
Let me show you how to add more of antiaging benefits of antioxidants to your meals — even if you feel "vegetably-challenged."

I'm not a practicing healthcare professional or scientist; what I know is the result of studying — and practicing — preventive nutrition for most of my adult life. The information you'll find here is what I've accumulated for myself and used for the past three decades. Who have I learned from? You can find some of the sources I trust at antiaging experts and health resources.
You might notice that I don't reference very many nutritional studies to "prove" that my assertions are "true". There's good reasons why:
- Studies can be manipulated to validate (or refute) any viewpoint you choose. If you want to "prove" something works, or doesn't, you can find a study that backs up that viewpoint. Studies routinely contradict each other, and ultimately don't prove anything.
- Many studies are very poorly designed, misleading, even fraudulent — and the casual observer has no way of detecting this.
- Studies that try to isolate a particular nutrient to assess its effects are fundamentally flawed. Nutrients aren't drugs — they don't work in isolation. Even if they did, it's not possible to remove all the variables in a study in order to determine how well a specific nutrient works.
It may take some trial-and-error, but the more you learn, the better you'll be able to determine what's best for your health. Ultimately, what's most effective is to design the most nutrient-dense diet you can, eating the foods that make you feel best — the rest will take care of itself.
My Pledge to You
I think that superfoods and supplements are terrific add-ons to an already-healthy diet, and you'll find my recommendations for them throughout this website. I select the companies that I promote for their commitment to quality and their contribution to a healthy planet — supporting green technology, fair-trade and sustainable, organic agriculture. I use many of the products myself, and wouldn't recommend anything that doesn't meet my standards.
Of course, you also don't want to pay any more than you have to for nutritional supplements and other health products. At my iHerb store, you'll be getting the widest selection of name-brand products as well as great discount prices!
