Lutein Supplements for Eye Protection

Lutein (pronounced LOO-teen) and zeaxanthin (zee-ya-ZAN-thin) are two of the most abundant members of the carotenoid family. They belong in the the subcategory of the carotenoids named the xanthophylls (pronounced ZAN-tho-fils), along with the antioxidant astaxanthin.

• Spinach (cooked), 1 cup — 20.4mg.
• Collards (cooked), 1 cup — 14.6mg.

• Turnip greens (cooked), 1 cup — 12.2mg.
• Green peas (cooked), 1 cup — 4.1mg.
• Spinach (raw), 1 cup — 3.7mg.

• Corn (cooked), 1 cup — 1.5mg.
• Broccoli (raw), 1 cup — 1.3mg.
• Romaine lettuce, 1 cup — 1.1mg.

• Green beans (cooked), 1 cup — 0.9mg.
• Broccoli (cooked), 1 cup — 1.6mg.
• Papaya (raw), 1 large — 0.3mg.

• Egg, 1 large — 0.2mg.
• Orange, 1 large — 0.2mg.



Vision Support Supplements

If you are interested in preventing degenerative eye problems, you might want to check out special antioxidant combinations specially formulated for vision care. Lutein Supplements for Treating Vision Problems
