What is Astaxanthin? Astaxanthin (pronounced asta-ZAN-thin) is one of a group of natural pigments known as xanthophylls (pronounced ZAN-tho-fils), a subcategory of the carotenoid family. Other examples of similar carotenoids would include lutein and zeaxanthin.
