Gluten and Your Health

I recently celebrated my 63rd birthday -- still in fantastic health and feeling years younger than my age. My usual way of celebrating is to have all my friends and family come over to enjoy a group dinner party. The mainstay on the menu for this occasion for years has been an entree of linguine with clam sauce -- my favorite dish.

This year, however, as I was making up the guest list, I noticed how many of my friends are going gluten-free, or at least trying to limit their intake of gluten and wheat-containing foods (including myself). So rather than just offering some gluten-free options, I decided to revamp the menu to one completely free of any wheat and gluten products.

Maybe you've noticed more and more articles and reports about the potential health hazards of gluten. Maybe you've even wondered if you may be affected by your own consumption of gluten as well. Although there are laboratory tests for gluten-intolerance, wheat allerdies, celiac disease, and auto-immune diseases related to diet, these can get expensive and often end up missing things that could change the diagnosis. People who experience wheat-related health issues will tell you that the best way to find out if you have any intolerance is to eliminate wheat and gluten from your diet completely for 30 days. This will tell you more than any blood test, because what matters most is how your body feels!

The Gluten-Free Summit

Dr. Tom O’Bryan of has gathered 29 of the world’s experts and opinion leaders on the topics of gluten-related disorders and nutrition for a series of online interviews taking place for FREE from November 11-17, 2013.

During the summit, you will:
• Learn about the latest research on gluten-related disorders;
• Understand why we MUST call more attention to them;
• Gain improved knowledge of proper diagnosis/treatment methods;
• More frequently ask, “Could this health issue be due to gluten?”

The goal of The Gluten Summit is to shift the scientific discussion and clinical recognition of gluten-related disorders forward by five years.

Each day, 3-4 interviews will be available to watch on demand online for a 24-hour period from 10:00 A.M. U.S. Eastern Standard Time (EST) each morning and will be available until 9:59 A.M. EST the next day.
