Alzheimer's Disease Prevention
Alzheimer's disease, also known as dementia, is growing at epidemic rates among the older population. There are now 5.4 million Americans -- including one in eight people aged 65 and over -- living with Alzheimer's disease, according to the Alzheimer's Association. In the next 20 years, it is projected that Alzheimer's will affect one in every four Americans.
As usual, most of the attention is being put on developing treatments, rather than focusing on Alzheimer's disease prevention. But that's where the money is with any disease… in the treatment, not in preventive measures.
While there is no sure way to guarantee that you won't contract Alzheimers, there are certain foods that are especially beneficial for Alzheimer's disease prevention. Omega 3 fats, herbs, spices, and certain antioxidant supplements stand out above the rest. Read the rest of the article here to discover what they are and how you can improve your chances of preventing Alzheimer's.
Fluoride Awareness Week
You probably haven't heard anything about this in the mainstream media… it's not something that corporate America or the government wants you to know about. Although it's "common knowledge" that water fluoridation prevents cavities, there's no actual science that backs this up — none! What is known is that the fluoride that municipalities all over the world add to the drinking water is a toxic waste product that has no proven benefits.
Dr. Joseph Mercola, in partnership with Fluoride Action Network, is promoting awareness of the dangers of fluoridation all this week. I highly recommend you click on the links below and discover shocking evidence about the health hazards of water fluoridation. Dr Mercola has a considerable amount of information on fluoride, but the definitive source is the Fluoride Action Network website. Pay a visit and learn what you can do to stop this insane poisoning of an unsuspecting population.

How Did Water Fluoridation Start Anyway?
If you're wondering how water fluoridation came into existence, watch this interview with Christopher Bryson, an investigative journalist who wrote a book entitled The Fluoride Deception. In this video, he talks about water fluoridation as one of the great conspiracies of the industrial era: how a deadly workplace poison and the most damaging environmental pollutant of the cold war came to be added to our drinking water.

Fluoride Water Filters
Most home water filters do not remove fluoride, for two reasons. First, fluoride is one of the most difficult substances to remove effectively. Second, it's not officially considered a toxin; most people think it's actually a benefit. The Centers for Disease Control actually named it one of the greatest health achievements of the 20th century! But if you checked out any of the links provided, or watched The Fluoride Deception video, you'd realize that fluoride is in fact something you do not want to consume whatsoever.
After searching around for water filters that are designed to eliminate fluoride, I settled on a reasonable-priced under-the-counter model that included a separate fluoride removal cartridge. Although reverse osmosis is reputed to be the optimal type of filter for fluoride removal, that technology comes with some drawbacks that made it impractical for my own home. You'll have to decide for yourself.
You can find out more about different types of filters and filter technology at filterwater.com. They carry filters of every type, from over a dozen manufacturers. Click on the graphic below to get information on the filter that I use. Filterwater also sells several types of kits that test your water for toxins and contaminants. I plan to get one for myself just to make sure my system is adequate.
If you have not heard much about genetically modified organisms(GMOs), you may not know that they may be one of the most dangerous health and environmental problems we face today.
GM foods are everywhere in our food supply. If you buy any type of packaged food, you're probably already consuming GM ingredients; 70% of the processed food in your supermarket contains GM ingredients.
GM foods have been linked to an increased risk in allergies, liver disease, reproductive problems and sterility and a host of other health problems. Unlike safety evaluations for drugs, there are no human clinical trials of GM foods.
So, please, if you haven't already, visit the websites below and find out what you can do to avoid consuming genetically-modified food, and prevent GM agriculture from take over the planet and destroying our food supply. While you're there, consider what you can do to contribute to the cause.
The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) is a grassroots, non-profit public interest organization that promotes and supports organic agriculture and addresses issues related to it, including food safety, food politics and GM technology.
The OCA is actively working to stop Monsanto from spreading GM agriculture around the world and gaining control of the world food supply. You can sign up here to support their campaign, Millions Against Monsanto.
The Institute for Responsible Technology is a world leader in educating policy makers and the public about genetically modified (GM) foods and crops. Founded in 2003 by international bestselling author and GMO expert Jeffrey Smith, the IRT works to mobilize citizens, organizations, healthcare professionals and the media to discover the truth about GM foods.
