Genetically Modified Soy
Shown to Cause Sterilization in Lab Animals
The list of studies that show serious problems with genetically modified soy continues to grow.
The latest study by the Russian National Academy of Sciences discovered that Monsanto's genetically modified (GM) soy led to problems in growth and reproduction in hamsters.
Using the same genetically-modified soy that is produced on over 90 percent of the soy acreage in the US, hamsters on the GM diet showed devastating results. By the third generation, most GM soy-fed hamsters lost their ability to reproduce. They also suffered stunted growth and a high newborn mortality rate.
In the GM soy-fed animals,
researchers also found an extremely rare phenomenon –
hair growing inside the animals’ mouths!
Other feeding studies using GM corn have also produced similar results. There are plenty of reports about pigs, cows and other livestock having reproductive problems when fed genetically modified feed.
In 2005, Irina Ermakova, also with the Russian National Academy of Sciences, reported that more than half the babies from mother rats fed GM soy died within three weeks. The babies in the GM group were also smaller and could not reproduce.

Haitian Farmers Pledge
to Burn Monsanto Seeds in Protest
Haitians apparently know more about the dangers of GM foods than most US citizens do. Despite the fact that about 500,000 Haitians are still living in tent cities 6 months after the devastating earthquake, Haitian farmers are refusing to accept donations from the Monsanto corporation.
Monsanto has offered to donate 60,000 seed sacks of hybrid corn seeds and vegetable seeds to Haitian farmers. You would think that they would be welcoming any help at all, but they realize that Monsanto is primarily interested in plundering Haitian farms for their own profit-driven agenda, not save the Haitians from starvation.
A group of Haitian farmers have organized a march scheduled for June 4, World Environment Day, in protest of Monsanto’s presence in Haiti. Haitian farmers have pledged to burn Monsanto’s seeds as part of the protest.

Are You Overusing Sunscreens?
For a long time now, we've been warned to cover ourselves with sunscreen every time we go out in the summer sun, as a protective measure against skin cancer. However, despite the increasing use of sunscreens, skin cancer rates continue to rise. Why is that?
Contrary to what most people believe, sunscreens can help protect against sunburn, but they have actually not been shown to prevent skin cancer or premature skin aging.
To clear up any confusion you might have about sunscreens, I've added a new section on my website that explains everything you need to know about these products. Questions that I answer include:
You can discover the answers here:
- When should you use sunscreens?
- What's the difference between UVA and UVB radiation?
- When's the best time of day to get vitamin D from the sun?
- What are the two basic types of sunscreens?
- Which sunscreen ingredients are toxic and should be avoided?
- Which ingredients should I look for in a sunscreen?
